I have been a teacher for over 30 years, 26 in the district in which I work now. Throughout my career, I substitute taught, while attending college to get my California clear teaching credentials and Master's degree. When I came on full time, I was privileged to teach full time at all four of our district elementary schools and the junior high school before I retired this year. I have taught students full time in classrooms, ranging from grades 2-6. In the Classroom: Computer generated lesson plans/students transferred to daily planners. Use of Smartboard, Chromebooks, ELMO, microscopes, desktops, laptops, IPADS, and video projectors for enrichment. Communication to parent through REMIND cell phone app and two websites. Quarterly curriculum-based field trips. Meaningful Science or Social Studies projects each term. Daily/weekly/monthly writing prompts and organized finished papers. Weekly BIG/little buddy classroom, cooperative learning shared groups with Primary K classes. Biweekly/monthly STEM science experiments/discrepant events. Color-coded behaviour tracking and weekly/daily communication to parents through email or paper notifications.
