an experienced and inclusionary English language instructor with extensive proven
success helping international student communities embrace North American English language and
composition. Using pedagogically sound modern and traditional methods, students are instructed in
foundational techniques when implementing a new language in the context of everyday life, and more
importantly, in that of an academic institution.
I currently hold a Master of Arts in English and a Certificate in Rhetoric and Composition from the
California State University. I joyfully spent a decade at California Language Academy in Culver City,
sharing experiences with students from all over the world. Memorable experiences include large
international summer groups from across the globe, Fortune 500 communities, and business on-site ESL/
Spanish classes (i.e. Hyatt, Alaska Airlines, Dogeared Jewelry, etc.).
I have most recently joined the faculty at USC’s International Academy, where students admitted to one
of USC’s highly selective master’s programs improve their English-language proficiency, writing and
composition, academic skills, test scores, and potential for success. In addition, my summers are spent at
UCLA’s International students program, continuing my expertise in assisting talented students navigate
their English studies and curriculum.
The experience I’ve garnered via various positions in the English field in different institutions has
afforded me the ability to work with diverse student populations, collaborating and communicating
effectively with individuals encompassing a wide variety of backgrounds, life experiences, and social
identities. In my approach to college-level teaching, I am deeply committed to fostering a diverse and
inclusive learning environment. I recognize the immense value that diverse perspectives bring to
academic discourse, and I strive to create a classroom where students from all backgrounds feel
welcomed, empowered, and equitable. Through inclusive curriculum design, varied teaching methods,
and open dialogue, I aim to cultivate a space where students can engage with diverse ideas, challenge
assumptions, and develop critical thinking skills that extend beyond the classroom.
