I taught English to Asian students when I lived in China and we had an open classroom structure where students felt comfortable and free to express themselves. Our tools were in reading from books, watching films, and in creative exchanges in a variety of topics for contemporary times. My classroom went from 5 to 25 students in the matter of one month, and to this day, I have remained close to some of my students. Asian students are more introverted, but with my class structure, they became extroverted and confident in using English as their 2nd language.
