Since I started University in 2004, I have been interested in neuroscience and specifically in the mechanism of neurodegenerative disorders. Following my interests I joined Tomas Falzone's laboratory at Universidad de Buenos Aires in 2011 to complete both my undergrad thesis and my PhD thesis in the field of neurobiology. During my time at Tomas' laboratory, I have learnt to work in a multidisciplinary team with professionals from a variety of areas such as mathematics, physics and biochemistry. The objective of the project was to develop new mice models to study Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. I have generated primary cell cultures and also worked with cell lines to perform the experiments.
After obtaining my PhD diploma, I moved to San Diego in 2018 to the laboratory of Paula Desplats, where I started a project which aims to understand the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in the generation and development of Multiple System Atrophy, a lethal neurodegenerative disease. For my project I had to analyze the miRNA and gene expression from MSA cases. I was also in charge of PhD students and undergrad students, and I had to coordinate their projects.
In 2022 I returned to Argentina to give my career a deep change in its direction. I was looking for a more direct way to have an impact in the patient’s lives. With that objective in mind I have joined Cognizant as Data Analyst in the pharmacovigilance project. During my time in the company I was responsible for the receipt, evaluation and processing of clinical cases to validate adverse events in patients. I was specially focused on special cases of interest to the health authorities. I had also participated in meetings with the purpose of improving the performance of the team.
