Hello! I am Sarah, an online English teacher who highly values gaining a deep understanding of a student's strengths and areas requiring improvement, in order to create a personalized lesson plan for maximum success. I am someone who is a native-level English expert and graduated from an Ivy League university in the U.S., but also grew up speaking a different language as my mother tongue. My personal experience has helped me understand how terrifying and confusing learning or improving one's English can often be. At the same time, with the right teacher to guide you with appropriate tools and resources, the learning process becomes really enjoyable and liberating. My goal is to be the English teacher I needed growing up: someone whose focus is not to stick to the same "copy-and-paste" curriculum for every student. I tailor my lessons based on the personality, strengths, skill level and interests of each student. For example, if you enjoy watching films, I may use scenes from Hollywood movies to help you improve your conversational English skills. If you are a great writer in a different language, I will craft your lessons to focus more on compositions, essays, and written translations that resonate with you. I firmly believe that learning English is not about morphing into a completely different person who has perfect pronunciation and grammar, but struggles to communicate their thoughts, ideas and work with the world.
