Anna Maria Apostolaki

I am a native English speaker from New York City, USA. I have been teaching English since July 2012. My experience as an English teacher is vast. I have taught in Indonesia, Australia, USA, Uganda, Vietnam, Greece and Online. I have taught students from three years old up to retired adults. I've taught students from beginner / A1 levels to intermediate and advanced / C2 levels. I have taught private lessons, small group classes as well as full-sized classrooms and proficiency / IELTS exam preparation courses.

I love teaching English, because English is the international language of the world. Opportunities can open up for students and professionals who have strong English language skills. Students can take what they learn in my classroom and bring it with them wherever they go. I like to teach students applicable English that they can use in their everyday lives. There’s nothing I find more rewarding as a teacher than when a student grasps a concept they previously had trouble understanding. When this happens, the student’s face lights up with a feeling of accomplishment. It gives me great satisfaction knowing that I just helped a student to overcome a difficult obstacle.

I am happy to teach teenagers, university students and working adults private English lessons, focusing on conversational English, business English and exam preparation. I am skilled at understanding a student's individual learning style and personality and creating lessons, developing activities and teaching tactics to fit each individual student's needs. My lessons are all catered to each student I teach. Having taught English online since 2017, I have countless lesson plan ideas stored in my repertoire, including online resources, worksheets and personally prepared documents that I use in my lessons.

I focus on creating a comfortable learning atmosphere that will allow students to feel at home when participating in class. As a teacher, my main concern is the progress that the students are making. I want students to look forward to coming to my lessons and have the overall experience not feel like work, but feel like an enjoyable experience, from which they can gain knowledge and improve their skill set.
