Teaching Approach

My approach to teaching English is both structured and deeply human.
I am a Canadian educator with CELTA certification and a long background in teaching and facilitating learning in international environments. Over the years I have worked with children, teenagers, university students, and adults. Today I particularly enjoy working with young learners, but I feel comfortable teaching across all age groups.

My teaching is strongly influenced by the communicative approach I developed through CELTA training. The goal is not only to learn grammar, but to use language meaningfully. Students learn English by speaking, interacting, and experimenting with language in real situations.
At the same time, my academic background and years of university teaching mean that I maintain high standards and clear learning goals. Lessons are carefully structured, but they remain flexible and responsive to the needs of each learner.

I believe strongly in learning by doing. I often use experiential activities, games, and creative exercises to support language learning. In education this is often called game-based learning: using play and interactive challenges to help learners practice language in a natural and memorable way. This approach works particularly well with children, but it is also very effective with teenagers and adults, because it reduces anxiety and encourages participation.

My background in art education also influences how I design lessons. I often integrate storytelling, visual elements, movement, and creative activities that allow learners to connect language with imagination and personal expression.

In addition, much of my professional work has involved inclusive education and learning environments that take into account diverse needs, including the participation of people with disabilities. This experience has strengthened my attention to accessibility, patience, and respect for different learning rhythms.

My personal experience also shapes how I teach. I have lived and studied in several countries, including Canada, Argentina, and now Italy. Learning and working in different languages has helped me understand firsthand the challenges learners face when studying a foreign language: uncertainty, hesitation, and the courage it takes to speak in a new language.

For this reason, one of my main priorities as a teacher is to create a safe and supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and trying again.

Ultimately, my goal is simple: to help learners develop confidence, curiosity, and enjoyment in using English.
