Edward Javier

I’m an Australian citizen currently based in Rome, Italy, I have over 2 decades working as a photographic educator at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Before this, I was a professional advertising and commercial photographer in three countries, bringing recent industry experience to my teaching.

My commercial work spans retail, fashion, architecture, portraiture, still life, and corporate photography. I’ve collaborated with diverse individuals from various social and cultural backgrounds and have taught ESL to many international students, but my most rewarding experiences come from connecting with everyday people and learning from their extraordinary lives.

I quickly build rapport and trust with others and have traveled extensively across North America, Europe, and Asia.

With 20 years of professional photography experience and 25 years in tertiary education, I hold the following qualifications:

2012: TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - RMIT University
1999: Graduate Diploma (VET) in Vocational Education and Training - Melbourne University
1983: BFA in Media Arts - RMIT University
I also have a 2022 Working with Children Check.

Throughout my time at RMIT, I’ve progressed to roles such as Vocational Teacher Program Coordinator and Program Manager. I am skilled in both face-to-face and online teaching.
