I am an experienced Australian tutor and professional photographer currently based in Rome, Italy, with over 20 years of experience in both the creative industry and education. My background as a commercial photographer spans retail, fashion, architecture, portraiture, still life, and corporate work, and I bring this real-world expertise into every tutoring session.

My teaching philosophy centres on helping students understand the equipment and craft of photography. I believe photography is primarily about capturing the image in the moment, not relying on post-editing or fixing in software. Whether you’re using a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or smartphone, I focus on the fundamentals: composition, lighting, exposure, and the technical aspects of the camera.

For students working with digital tools, I also teach Capture One, which I believe is a powerful, yet intuitive tool for image processing. However, my priority is to ensure students are confident in their photography skills, knowing how to capture the best possible image straight out of the camera, before turning to software.

I offer private tutoring in-person and online, tailoring my lessons to each student's needs. Whether you're looking to improve your technical skills, develop your creative vision, or get the most out of smartphone photography, I provide clear, actionable feedback that helps students grow as photographers and storytellers.

Having taught a diverse range of students—including those from international backgrounds—I excel at adapting my teaching style to suit different learning preferences. I understand the challenges of learning in both in-person and online environments and use digital tools to enhance the learning experience, ensuring each lesson is engaging and effective.

With qualifications in Vocational Education and Training and a BFA in Media Arts, I also bring a strong pedagogical approach to my tutoring practice. I hold a current Working with Children Check and have experience teaching in both traditional and online settings.
