In teaching a foreign language, it is important to understand the learner’s underlying motivation—the reasons for why the language is being studied. Recognizing this helps make language learning a shared objective, useful for future study abroad and related opportunities. Among children of this age, interest in English is often high because social media exposes them to English content.
