I've been an online tutor since two years and I love this job. It gives me the oppurtunity to meet new people and help them.
I use the first lesson to understand the level of the student/adult and his/her needs. From that onwards, my lessons are composed of two parts: in the first session there is a revision of the content previously learned followed by the explanation of a new content. In the second half of the lesson I usually give exercises so that the student can immediately practice what he/she has just learned. Exercises can be substituted by speaking (this depends on the needs of the student). I've been using this method for all the time as a tutor and I really think this is the best approach to teach a new language to non-native people. By using exercises and speaking as a way of learning, there is higher interaction of the student and lessons become even less boring :)
At the same time I really appreciate when my students give me feedback, so that I can always improve: my aim is to deliver the most suitable teaching for the student and make lessons as enjoyable as possible.
I deliver online lessons as I think this gives much more flexibility to students: they can learn new languages from everywhere!!
Don't be afraid of mistakes.... they are the key to success. Lessons by lessons you will notice big progress and you will keep motivation throughout all the time.
