My name is Jude McCall, an advanced high school junior currently enrolled in AP Literature & Comprehension, a junior-level college English course. As an aspiring English teacher, I offer personalized virtual literature lessons for students in elementary school, middle school, and high school; I look to train students who want to bolster their skills, improve confidence, and improve academic performance -- I can only teach what you are willing to learn!
My approach to teaching is built around support, structure, and specific needs demonstrated by the student. I find from personal and observational experience that every person learns in a unique way, which emphasizes my focus on adapting lessons to fit individual necessities and goals. My tutoring can be applied to grammar, essay writing, reading comprehension, literary analysis, and even creative writing! Creating clear and organized lessons are my priority, as it sparks motivation and makes intimidating material feel manageable.
Throughout our sessions, we will work through assignments step-by-step, practice writing techniques, build strong essay structures, and review key concepts in an interactive and engaging way. I work to underscore the value in constructively correcting mistakes, ensuring the student understands the 'why' in addition to the 'how,' thus allowing every learned skill to be applied independently in the future.
From a general perspective, my primary goal is to build and maintain a comfortable, safe learning environment in which students feel encouraged to ask questions and grow at their own pace. Thanks to my current status as a student, I understand a myriad of academic expectations and can offer relatable, practical guidance.
I look forward to extending my warm, easy-going demeanor to ready-to-learn students so we can work to a better overall experience in English.
