Kate

Hi there! My name is Kate, and I’m from Yorkshire, England. As well as being an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher, I am also a qualified editor and proofreader. Teaching, proofreading, and editing allow me to spend my days exploring and talking about language (in all senses of the word) – which is one of my main passions in life.

I have more than five years of experience teaching English – I have worked as an English teacher in private schools in Brazil, Spain, and Italy, teaching students of all ages and at all levels. I now enjoy combining my teaching and my tech skills to teach students online from the comfort of my home (and theirs)!

My specialty is conversation practice and tailoring lessons to my students' needs. I aim to keep my students talking as much as possible, and I always offer supplementary material for those who like to study as much as they can outside of their lesson time.

After living in Italy for quite a few years now, I have a good understanding of the Italian language, which helps me to identify common pitfalls in students, and I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help students overcome them! My own experience with learning Italian as an adult has provided me with further insight and empathy when teaching and has helped me become an even better teacher.

My lessons are dynamic, well-thought-out, and designed for specific student needs. My approach to teaching is open-minded, positive, calm, and patient.
