After my degree in foreign languages and literature, I gained experience as a recruiter and later as an international researcher, participating as a trainer and giving private lessons to young graduates on culture both in Italian and in English.
Language pedagogy has come a long way since the days when repetitive grammar-translation methods were regarded as the only way to learn. Today, task-based approaches are widespread in schools, emphasising communication and the practical uses of language
The primary purpose of language is communication - grammar is important, but there's a bigger picture. Language is no longer seen as being learnt through mechanical exercises, it's developed through students interacting and engaging.
The main objective is to know how to communicate a new language, always being careful to interact empathetically with each student and leading him to understand idioms that also express the culture of the spoken language, without neglecting the importance of grammar.
