My passion for mathematics began in adolescence and has since taken me on a journey across regions, countries, and continents—culminating in a PhD in Pure Mathematics from the University of Liverpool and a fulfilling career as a secondary school maths teacher in Bristol. Over the past several years, I’ve had the privilege of working with students aged 11 to 17 from diverse backgrounds, supporting not only their academic progress but also their personal growth and confidence.
I believe that anyone can master mathematics—with the right guidance, patience, and encouragement. My teaching style is holistic and student-centered, designed to nurture curiosity, build resilience, and unlock a deeper understanding of maths. I see exams not as obstacles, but as milestones that can foster growth and self-belief. Whether I’m working with high-achieving students aiming for top grades or those who find maths more challenging, I tailor my lessons to meet each learner’s unique needs. I use engaging strategies such as “I do, we do, you do,” and interactive tools like Miro to create a dynamic, participatory learning environment where students feel supported and empowered.
I currently teach KS3, KS4, and KS5 mathematics at Backwell School—one of the top-performing schools near Bristol—where I challenge advanced learners and provide targeted support for those needing extra help. I also offer private tutoring for GCSE, A-level, and university-level students, drawing from my background as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Liverpool to make complex concepts clear and accessible.
Outside the classroom, I am a musician, singer-songwriter, husband, and recently a father—roles that bring joy, perspective, and balance to my life. I love hiking, spending time in nature, and exploring spirituality, particularly through Buddhism. I also practice yoga and meditation, and enjoy writing and poetry. These interests shape my teaching by helping me cultivate mindfulness, empathy, and presence in everything I do.
If you’re looking for a supportive, experienced tutor who can help make mathematics both meaningful and enjoyable, I’d love to work with you.
