Hello! My name is Laura, and I am from Italy. I love teaching and helping students reach their goals in the second-language acquisition process. This is why I am currently completing a course on second language acquisition for migrants, which emphasizes the need to focus on the learners' background.
I've spent many years of my life learning languages, both on my own and with native-speaking teachers. This long experience taught me not only the desired languages but also plenty of methods to get the message across. As students learn in different ways, I believe in the formulation of tailored methods. Some of us are more analytical, and some of us are more spherical in our approach. Others may favor a visual approach, while others a verbal one. This is why I strongly believe in a good first introductional meeting.
My teaching experience is more informal, as I have taught Greek and Italian in the form of private lessons.
Talking to prospective students is paramount, not only to learn about their goals but also about their preferences and hobbies. This can help create more unique learning experiences. A good grammar book is always useful and necessary for developing solid linguistic knowledge, but it should sometimes be supplemented with other, more stimulating materials that are also tailored to the students' interests.
