Aims/Objectives:
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
● Identify and name around 6-10 present simple vocabulary words related to a daily morning up routine – wake up, get up, eat breakfast, put on shoes, get dressed, go to school, wash face, brush teeth, brush hair
● Use the correct suffix with the present simple tense like +s, +ies, +es both in speaking and writing to describe and explain the daily routine of themselves and their students/family.
Assumptions:
• Students have already been introduced to some basic verbs and nouns to describe common daily routines. Students know when to use the correct subject tense such as I, We, You, They, He and She.
Anticipated Problems & Solutions:
#1) Students may not be able to understand or get confused when to use the proper suffix for the verb as it can be regular or irregular
#2) Students may not feel confident volunteering in the speaking activities or when the teacher will ask the class a question due to the fear of being incorrect
Solutions:
#1) Keep a list of the verbs that require a different suffix always written on the board including irregular forms to help the students understand what to use for these certain words. If they are having trouble with the correct present simple form and suffix, the teacher can spend more time in the presentation stage to address any potential challenges the students face before giving them the production activity.
#2) Before the lesson begins, make it clear to the students that it’s okay to make mistakes and it’s okay to make mistakes. Explain that this is how we learn! Also reinforce this during and throughout the lesson.
