Hello! My name is Burak Çalılı, and I’m an experienced mathematics teacher with over 20 years in education. I’ve taught a wide range of curricula including IB (MYP & DP), AP Calculus, Turkish national, and Canadian programs. I hold a B.Sc. in Mathematics and a Master’s in Mathematics Education and Pedagogy, and I’m certified in IB DP Mathematics (Category 1 & 2). I’ve also taken part in national education projects, such as TUBITAK, and contributed to curriculum development and exam design. Whether it's guiding students through complex calculus problems or supporting them in their Math IA or EE journey, I'm here to help them grow both academically and personally. My lessons are interactive, structured, and student-centered. I aim to create a classroom environment where questions are encouraged, thinking is visible, and mistakes are seen as learning opportunities. I often use a mix of real-life contexts, visual tools, and technology (e.g., Desmos, GeoGebra, TI calculators) to help students connect abstract math to meaningful applications. Every lesson typically includes: A quick warm-up or review to activate prior knowledge A clear objective and step-by-step exploration Time for group problem-solving, questioning, and discussion Regular checks for understanding, feedback, and reflection My goal is not only to help students succeed in exams but also to build confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking skills that last far beyond the classroom.
