Hi! I'm Alex, I have a PhD in Mathematics from Eindhoven University of Technology, and for years I've been helping students survive (and sometimes even develop a passion for) math ??
I teach at both middle school, high school, and university levels: algebra, analysis, geometry, probability, discrete mathematics... all the way up to more advanced topics like cryptography and coding theory.
My approach is very direct and personalized: no formulas memorized without understanding what's happening. I like to build intuition, method, and confidence in reasoning, adapting each lesson to the student in front of me.
Over the years, I've taught university courses, supervised theses, and tutored many students with very different levels and goals.
Outside of math, I travel a lot, work remotely, and often teach somewhere in Southeast Asia with a coffee nearby and a blackboard full of formulas.
Throughout my academic career, I have been heavily involved in teaching, tutoring, and student supervision.
Teaching Experience:
Courses Taught: I taught algebra and cryptography courses, lecturing and guiding students through complex topics.
Thesis Supervision: I supervised student theses, providing guidance on research direction, technical development, and academic writing.
College-Level Tutoring: I taught students in advanced mathematics, including calculus and discrete mathematics, ensuring they understood key concepts and improved problem-solving skills.
Certifications:
Although I do not have formal teaching certifications, my practical teaching experience, combined with my advanced academic background, has honed my skills as an educator.
Teaching Methodology:
Emphasizing conceptual understanding to provide students with a solid foundation. Incorporating practical examples, discussions, and real-world applications to engage students. Adapting teaching methods to meet individual learning styles and goals.
Subject Expertise:
Algebra and Cryptography (courses taught)
Thesis Supervisor in Mathematics and Cryptography
Post-Quantum Cryptography and Advanced Cryptosystems
Algebraic Geometry and Its Applications
Discrete Mathematics and Calculus
Education:
PhD in Mathematics, Eindhoven University of Technology, specializing in coding theory and post-quantum cryptography.
Master's Degree in Mathematics, University of Trento, focusing on coding theory and cryptography.
Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, University of Trento, with a thesis on homomorphic cryptography for outsourced data.
