After years of experience in tutoring and teaching math for different lavels, I come to the idea that I can not teach students math!
All I can do is:
first motivate them to learn,
and second, help them solve some obstacles in their understanding of math here and there.
Like a therapy, in a one-to-one relation with the student, I try to understand what has blocked his/her desire to learn (in general, and math in particular), and what bad memories of failure or missunderstanding has frightened him/her to take another step. After understanding and resolving these issues, the flow of curiosity and joy would do the rest.
Most of our sessions will be covered by you asking questions (which we would try to answer together not me answering them for you) or doing examples (that I try to provide with hard work to make sure they seem very real and useful to you). Through these activities, you become more and more independant. The goal is to make you a self-sufficient learner; such that after some lessons not only you may not need any further private lessons, but also you become so eager to read and learn through books.
We learn at different paces and in different ways. I will recognize this and help you to translate your process to terms that common teachers/examers understand.
Do not contact me if you just want to pass an exam! I can not do much in that regard. It would be a waste of my time and your money.
