Ciao Alessia, i miei colleghi hanno già ampiamente spiegato il concetto, e anche che "if" può essere tranquillamente sostituito con "when". Comunque: 0 conditional è usato per general truth, per informazioni o scientificamente vere (if you toss cork into water, it floats), o genericamente vere, (if you fly with Ryanair, you don't get any food), abitudini (when I don't work late, I always catch the train), preferenze (when I order steak, I prefer it well done), regole, norme, leggi etc (if you’re on the train, don’t speak very loud - if you're under eighteen, you can't drink), causa/effetto (if you eat too much burgers, you can get fat), superstizioni e proverbi (it’s bad luck if the groom sees the bride before the wedding - when it rains, it pours!)
A volte viene anche usato per dare istruzioni (if Bill comes here again, tell him I’m not scared of him!) e per dare consigli (if you go out, wear a coat: it's freezing!) e per chiedere favori (if you go to the bakery, get some bread for me, please).
