Come guardare un'opera d'arte - Why look at art?

Un consiglio per principianti che possono seguire un semplice video in inglese.

L'arte contemporanea ha abbandonato il bisogno di riflettere le bellezze della natura e cerca dicreare emozioni, domande a anche una grande confusione di sentimenti. Difficile fare un paragone tra Monet e Warhol. Monet gioca con la luce ad i colori mentre Warhol pensa che l'arte sia una merce, un prodotto da vendere, per questo dovrebbe costare poco e trattare argomenti popolari che tutti possono riconoscere. Questo è stato davvero un punto di vista innovativo. Naturalmente dobbiamo considerare che i due artisti hanno vissuto in epoche e mondi diversi, ma noi non possiamo giudicare le loro intenzioni, possiamo solo cercare di capire.

Mark Rothko è stato un espressionista astratto che ha esplorato il significato del colore, le relazioni tra i colori, abbandonando ogni immagine. Rothko vuole esplorare i sentimenti che scaturiscono dall'unione/combinazione di colori diversi.

L'opera d'arte quindi è unica, perchè ogni artista è unico, come unica è ogni esperienza di vita. L'osservazione dell'opera d'arte ci può far avvicinare al nostro io, ci può far capire molto chi siamo e cosa vogliamo. Alcuni oggetti artistici hanno prezzi da capogiro (e questo è un argomento che possiamo affrontare in seguito) e possono diventare beni rifugio e buoni investimenti. Più persone la ammirano, più l'artista viene amato, più il prezzo sale. Ma i prezzi possono variare anche a causa della storia stessa dell'oggetto: per esempio il ritratto di Adele Block Bauer I (se non lo avete visto vi cosiglio il film "The woman in gold"). A suggestion for beginners.

Modern art has transcended the need for reflecting nature's beauty and seeks to create questions, emotions, even confusion. Comparing Monet with Warhol is not fair at all. Monet's ideas worked on the principles of play of light and color while as Warhol believed that art should be treated as a commodity. According to him, it should be affordable and popular. He believed in idea being superior to craft. His was a new way of thinking. Whether it was good or bad, depends on our perceptions.

Mark Rothko was an abstract expressionist who explored the expressive content of color relationships, separated from any representational image. He was asking the question, "If I just throw some colours together, without actually painting anything, what feelings can I create? What moods?" Some people like to stare at his works a long time, and then close their eyes - or look to the left or right. You'll see an "afterimage" with the opposite colours of the original. The real challenge is to look at them and see if it tells you anything at all about who the artist was - that was the ultimate goal of the expressionists.

Every artwork is unique because every artist is unique and their life experiences are unique. Art is priceless because we can learn more about ourselves and others from making it, sharing it, discussing it, loving it and even hating it.  
The reality that some art is expensive is because some art is recognized by people as being more special than others. Maybe the art is old, or one of a kind, or created by a special person, or owned by a specific person, or created with special materials, or is even hated and reviled by many people. A ggod example can be the portrait if Adele Block Bauer I (see the movie "The woman in gold").The more people recognize the uniqueness of a work of art, the more precious it becomes; eventually transforming it into a commodity that has a value equal to some monetary or financial product.
