Present Simple vs Present Continuous - Le differenze
Durante le lezioni di inglese riscontro spesso una difficoltà comune tra gli studenti, quella di non riuscire ben ad identificare quando sia meglio utilizzare il Present Simple e il Present Continuous.
Lo stesso vale per il Past simple ed il Past Continuous, ma andiamo per gradi, scopriamo prima insieme le differenze nel tempo presente, nel prossimo articolo affronteremo anche il tempo passato.
Dopo la spiegazione lascio qualche esercizio per potersi esercitare e fissare quindi il concetto.
Quando usare il Simple Present
Il Simple Present si usa in due principali tipi di azioni:

ABITUDINI: azioni che avvengono o non avvengono regolarmente (ogni giorno, ogni anno)
I cook every day.
John walks his dog three times a day.

STATI: cose che non cambiano facilmente
(opinioni, condizioni)
My sister lives in England
I like coffee
Quando usare il Present Continuous
Il Present Continuous si usa per due tipi principali di azioni

AZIONE CHE AVVIENE ORA: qualcosa che avviene nel momento in cui parliamo
I am cooking dinner
she is reading a book now

UN PROGETTO DEFINITO PER IL FUTURO: qualcosa che si intende fare in un futuro prossimo e che è stata già programmata
I am working tomorrow
Consigli per usare il tempo verbale corretto
Tip: per identificare quale dei due tempi verbali si meglio utilizzare, si può aggiungere un avverbio di tempo alla frase.
Per il present simple:
- avverbi per esprimere un'abitudine: every day, usually...
Per il Present Continuous:
- avverbi per esprimere un'azione del momento: now, in this moment...
- avverbi per esprimere azione futura: tomorrow, later...
