Female representation in the Renaissance society - La ritrattistica femminile nel Rinascimento

Observe all the female portraits here under. Do you recognize similarities? And differences? Who commissioned female portraits in the Renaissance time? Husbands? Fathers? Do these portraits really represent the person as she was? As you can notice all these portraits represent young ladies, normally around the age of 15/20. This was the age in which girls normally got married and there was a desire of remembering their beauty and their social status. Paintings were ordered by different male patrons for different social reasons.

Osserva questi ritratti femminili. Si possono riscontrare similitudini? E differenze? Chi erano i committenti di questi ritratti femminili del Rinascimento? Mariti? Amanti? Ammiratori? Padri? Ognuno di queste opere ha avuto un committente diverso, perchè ogni ritratto aveva un significato diverso.

Pensate che questi ritratti rappresentino davvero la persona o pensate che siano idealizzati? Come si può notare tutti queste donne vengono rappresentate all'apice della loro bellezza, in un'età che va dai 15 ai 20 anni. Questo era il momento in cui le ragazze venivano fatte sposare e c'era il desiderio di immortalare la loro gioventù...ma non solo. I ritratti avevano infatti un forte connotato sociale e rappresentavano la famiglia che stava alle spalle: soprattutto quella del marito. Altre volte invece i committenti erano ammiratori di genere diverso.

Attraverso questi ritratti possiamo discutere il ruolo delle donne nella società rinascimentale italiana.
